League Prize 2023 Exhibition: Uncomfortable

June 13, 2023—June 13, 2024

The online exhibition features original work by the six winners of the 2023 Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers. In combination with their lectures and interviews, this exhibition spotlights the winners’ interpretations of the 2023 competition theme, Uncomfortable, which asked entrants to consider the sources of our collective discomfort, how we respond to discomfort, and whose comfort matters. The installations reflect a rich variety of responses to this prompt, as well as the broader diversity of the winners’ interests and modes of practice.

Integrating the virtual with the physical, Uncomfortable includes both entirely digital projects and documentation of physical installations in communities across North America. The projects span a wide range of media and settings, ranging from scale models and gallery installations to animations and video.
