Beaux Arts Ball 2025: Pattern Recognition

A benefit for the programs of The Architectural League of New York.

October 3, 2025

Beaux Arts Ball 2025: Pattern Recognition celebrates the quiet attention required to uncover patterns, and the critical imagination required to design new templates for what’s to come.

On Friday, October 3, 2025, The Architectural League gathered at MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Dedicated to New York’s manufacturers, artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs, the reimagining of Bush Terminal began with a focus on the unique pressures facing the city’s garment workers. Allying Bush Terminal’s and the League’s missions to support creative expression in arts and design, the space was transformed in response to this year’s theme: Pattern Recognition. The event featured an original commissioned installation by Felecia Davis, sounds by Lovie, and a graphic identity designed by Eddie Opara and his studio at Pentagram.

History, like fabric, has a warp and a weft. Certain structures give it shape, and others give it color and texture. More than simply taking notice as it unfolds, we also take part in its making. Well worn paths can bring comfort, and they can wear out. Novel technologies can bring excitement, and they can reproduce hidden biases. Old “Beaux Arts” can be imitated, but are those the histories we intend to flatter? Building the future we need will rely on recognizing the forms of the past and present that are worth repeating, and altering the ones that aren’t.
