First Friday: Perkins&Will

The global architecture, interior, and landscape design firm invites League members to its New York office.

The League’s First Friday events are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work on the boards.

Perkins&Will’s global team of over 2,700 people works across the fields of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. Founded in Chicago in 1935, the firm’s 30 studios now span three continents. Perkins&Will was named “Firm of the Year” in 2022 by Metropolis for their industry leadership in advancing climate action and social justice. Recognized for its work in science and healthcare design, the firm’s New York office is led by 15 principals and associate principals and works with clients across the business, education, and technology sectors. 

Completed projects include:

University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute Designed with patient, family, and caregiver input, this outpatient center unites treatment, research, and teaching facilities serving patients with complex neurological conditions.

Southwest Library A design/build project with Turner Construction, this new library achieves LEED Platinum certification for environmental design, integrating energy and water conservation strategies and local materials.

Innolabs Created in partnership with New York City’s Economic Development Corporation, this adaptive reuse project expands an existing Long Island City building to create a scientific workplace with laboratory space and office amenities.

Destination Crenshaw Anchored by art installations, ten new public parks, and new streetscapes, this public art and cultural experience will run along 1.3 miles of Crenshaw Boulevard and celebrate Black LA.

Weill Cornell Student Residence  This new student residence for Weill Cornell Medicine located on a dispersed Upper East Side campus contains mixed unit types and indoor and outdoor gathering and event spaces.

Barnard College Altschul Hall Renovation A 14-story addition to the former Altschul Hall, the Roy and Diana Vagelos Science Center will double the available programmable space and unite all science-based departments of the women’s college under one roof.
