The Architectural League’s annual Emerging Voices program spotlights North American architects, landscape architects, and urban designers who have significant bodies of realized work and the potential to influence their field.

Future Green Studio is a 2018 winner of the award.

The Brooklyn-based landscape design firm focuses on research and fabrication as well as horticulture. Founded in 2008 by David Seiter, who studied landscape architecture and regional planning at the University of Pennsylvania, it now employs 25 people.

Its work includes:

  • Nowadays, a Queens performance venue with a laid-back, parklike atmosphere
  • Spontaneous Urban Plants: Weeds in NYC, a book promoting the aesthetic and ecological benefits of weeds
  • Half Street, a block-long pedestrian plaza in Washington, DC that uses green infrastructure to manage stormwater runoff.
