The Deborah J. Norden Fund

1995 – Present

Please note: the Norden Fund is on pause for the 2024 cycle and the League is not accepting applications at this time.  The Deborah J. Norden Fund awards up to $5,000 annually in travel grants to students and recent graduates in the fields of architecture, architectural history, and urban studies.

Emerging Voices

1982 – Present

An annual invited competition for North American firms and individuals with distinct design voices and significant bodies of realized work.

League Prize

1981 – Present

A juried portfolio competition organized around a yearly theme for young architects and designers ten years or less out of school.

Folly/Function

2012 – Present

The Folly/Function competition is organized with Socrates Sculpture Park. It challenges architects and designers to design and build a large-scale project for public exhibition at Socrates. Folly was launched to explore the intersections and divergences between architecture and sculpture. In 2016, the competition was renamed Folly/Function and shifted in emphasis to asking entrants create lasting designs that improve the conditions in the park.

Times Square Valentine Heart Design

2015

The Times Square Alliance's public arts program Times Square Arts asked The Architectural League to collaborate on a 2015 invited competition for architecture and design firms to create an installation celebrating Valentine’s Day in Times Square.

American Roundtable

2019 - present

A new Architectural League initiative, which will bring together on-the-ground perspectives on the condition of American communities and what they need to thrive going forward.
