The League Prize, established in 1981, recognizes exemplary and provocative work by young practitioners and provides a public forum for the exchange of their ideas.

Established in 2009, MMX Studio is a collaborative practice based in Mexico City focused on design process and research.  The studio is led by:

  • Jorge Arvizu, who received his BS in architecture and MS in civil engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana
  • Ignacio del Rio, who received his training in architecture from the National University of Mexico
  • Emmanuel Ramirez, who holds a degree in architecture from the National University of Mexico and a MArch from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, and currently teaches at the Universidad Iberoamericana, and
  • Diego Ricalde, who received his architecture training at the National University of Mexico and holds a master’s degree in architecture and urbanism from the Architectural Association in London, and currently teaches at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

In 2003, the National Fund for Culture and Arts in Mexico awarded del Rio, Ramirez, and Ricalde the Mexican Young Creators Award.

For this video, Ramirez and Ricalde sat down with Gabriel Silberblatt and Saga Blane to discuss the work of their studio and their installation for the League Prize 2012 exhibition at Parsons The New School for Design.
