FF – Distance Edition: 5468796
Winnipeg-based 5468796 discusses its interdisciplinary practice.
The League’s monthly First Friday events are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work in progress.
The League’s monthly First Friday series has shifted to a new online format and other days of the week. Each event explores design practices in New York City and beyond that operate in multiple roles—coupling architecture with initiatives including design advocacy, fabrication research, and community engagement.
5468796 is a Winnipeg-based studio established in 2007 by Johanna Hurme and Sasa Radolovic. Alongside a broad range of projects including urban interventions as well as residential and commercial buildings, the studio is committed to civic engagement and is constantly searching for different ways to work with local government. In this video, studio members discuss the firm’s various urban projects, the role of teaching in their practice, and their distinctive business structure.
The presentation is followed by a Q+A moderated by Aaron Betsky, Director of the School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech and a design critic and author.
