ATELIER ARSº

Alejandro Guerrero and Andrea Soto are principals of Guadalajara-based ATELIER ARSº. Guerrero founded the firm in 2000, and Soto began working as his associate in 2010. The firm sees its practice as “a way of thinking about the discipline in which history, theory, and criticism are present in the architectural project.” Past projects, located in Mexico, include House and Studio in Mar Chapálico; Levering Trade headquarters; and SMO House. Current projects include the NOVASEM headquarters, TID Annex at ITESO University, Brut House, and Storms Observatory House, also all located in Mexico.

The firm’s project SMO House won the Gold Medal at the Jalisco Architecture Biennale in 2007 and received second prize in the competition for the Mexican Pavilion for the World Expo in Shanghai 2010. The work of ATELIER ARSº was exhibited in the Mexican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2014; at the AB Initio exhibition at the Chancellery Palace in Mexico City; and in Traces of Centuries and Future Steps at the Venice Biennale at Palazzo Bembo in 2012. The firm has been published internationally in Glocal, México DESIGN, Piso in Mexico, Future in Spain, Interni in Italy, Phaidon Atlas, DOMUS, and ArchDaily.Alejandro Guerrero received his M.Arch from the Escola Tecnica Superior d’Arquictura de Barcelona, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. He is currently a professor at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente University (ITESO) and the director of INTERTECTONICS, a course at Centro para la Cultura Arquitectónica y Urbana. Andrea Soto received her bachelor’s degree in architecture from ITESO with exchange studies in the University of San Francisco.
