TALLER |MauricioRocha+GabrielaCarrillo| lecture
Rocha and Carrillo’s 2014 Emerging Voices lecture explores their interest in the manipulation of volume and light.
Emerging Voices spotlights individuals and firms based in the United States, Canada, or Mexico with distinct design voices and the potential to influence the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, and urbanism.
In 2014, The Architectural League named Mexico’s TALLER |MauricioRocha+GabrielaCarrillo| an Emerging Voice.
In their presentation, Rocha and Carrillo discuss the importance of light and shadows, context, material, and, above all, designing “spaces for people.” The selected projects highlight the firm’s interest in ephemeral interventions as well as buildings sensitive to user needs and responsive to the climate, such as the Vasconcelos Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired and San Pablo Oztotepec Market.
