On May 4, 2013, Little Free Library / NYC launched in conjunction with the IDEAS CITY StreetFest. Ten small book shelters were installed over the course of the day throughout the East Village and Lower East Side. The photos below document the day’s activity, showing the ten Little Free Libraries under construction and in their final form. The League will continue to post updates about the project over the coming weeks and months. But first, enjoy the photographs below, look back at concept illustrations and project statements from the ten design teams, and view a map of the project locations with information about visiting the ten libraries, which will remain installed through September 1, 2013.
