League Prize 2021: Night 2
With Tei Carpenter of Agency–Agency and Rodrigo Escandón Cesarman and Ricardo Roxo Matias of APRDELESP.
June 22, 2021
6:00 p.m.
The League Prize is an annual competition that has been organized by The Architectural League since 1981. Open to designers ten years or less out of school, it draws entrants from around North America.
The second evening of lectures by winners of the 2021 Architectural League Prize features Tei Carpenter of Agency—Agency (New York, NY and Toronto, Canada) and Rodrigo Escandón Cesarman and Ricardo Roxo Matias of APRDELESP (Mexico City).
The 2021 theme, Housekeeping, asked entrants to consider ideas of oversight and control, maintenance and responsibility, and labor and care in their work. How should we think about the maintenance of our disciplinary home? What is it about the way designers work that we’re so desperate to maintain, preserve, and protect? Could we redirect our efforts toward caring for ourselves, one another, and the environment?
The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A with 2021 Young Architects + Designers Committee member Cyrus Peñarroyo, co-founder of EXTENTS.
