The first evening of the annual Emerging Voices lecture series, featuring The Living and Surfacedesign, Inc. Emerging Voices spotlights individuals and firms based in the United States, Canada, or Mexico with distinct design voices and the potential to influence the disciplines of architecture, landscape design, and urbanism.

Geoff di Girolamo, James Lord, and Roderick Wyllie, principals of the San Francisco landscape architecture and urban design practice, Surface Design Inc., focus on creating landscapes that “connect people to their built environment” with an emphasis on “personal histories and connections between culture and natural environment.”  For more on Surfacedesign, Inc., click here.

Founded in 2006 with “the mission of creating the architecture of the future,” New York’s The Living, led by principal David Benjamin, explores “how new technologies come to life in the built environment.” For more on The Living, click here.
