The League’s Ask Me Anything is an informal, students-only Q&A series where practitioners offer advice about navigating career pathways, emerging methodologies, and everyday practice.
In May 2026, the League presented “Deportation Inc.: Investigating the Business of Migrant Detention,” a screening and conversation co-organized with SITU Research and Lawfare and co-presented by e-flux. At that event, Gauri Bahuguna joined a panel of law and journalism experts to situate detention sites within longer histories of privatization, racialized incarceration, jurisdictional maneuvering, and municipal complicity.
As deputy director of research at SITU Research, Bahuguna’s work turns dense, multifaceted datasets into clear visual narratives and interactive web tools, forming the basis for the studio’s in-depth examination of topics such as state violence, police misconduct, environmental harm, and, most recently, the immigration enforcement industrial complex in the docuseries Deportation Inc.
Drawing on her background across visual research, spatial investigation, and design education, Bahuguna will join students for an open discussion on computational methodology, the role of design in human rights advocacy, and navigating high-stakes public investigations.
