The League’s monthly After Hours events, formerly called First Fridays, are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work on the boards.
INC Architecture & Design is a New York-based multidisciplinary architecture and design studio. Founded in 2006 and led by cofounders Adam Rolston, Drew Stuart, and Gabriel Benroth and partners Hilary Kroll and Tyler Kleck, the 40-person firm works across architecture and interior design, often within the same project, from hotels and restaurants to residential development of varying scales. With a belief that “wellness and sustainability are a single, integrated discipline,” in the firm’s own words, INC’s portfolio foregrounds high-end hospitality projects while focusing on delivering the “aspirations” of their clients to a diverse range of projects.
Completed projects include:
The Atlas Hotel Interior Situated in Harvard University’s Enterprise Research Campus in Allston, Massachusetts, the hotel, designed by Marlon Blackwell Architect, features details from wood, stone, textiles, and metal that reference New England’s craft tradition.
Saint Marks Place Inspired by the brownstone townhouses in the surrounding Boerum Hill neighborhood, this residential complex incorporates a parlor-level communal loft and a green canopy that separates the lower-level units from street traffic.
Papa San Inspired by its Peruvian-Japanese menu, the restaurant design combines influences from the open-air night markets in both regions, including 30-foot ceilings and large glass walls that merge indoor and outdoor elements.
Current projects include:
Velvaere For this wellness-focused residential development, INC is working with the WELL Building Institute to develop a wellness standard for the residence amenity, which will integrate features such as lighting aligned with circadian rhythms, whole-home indoor air purification, acoustic control, and a dedicated “wellness suite” in each residence.
The Morgan The design of this new residential development in Midtown Manhattan draws inspiration from the history of the area’s textile industry, and will feature a façade of prefabricated panels that creates a woven effect.
Indigo Raleigh Embracing the building’s mid-century origins, INC’s interior renovation of the Raleigh, North Carolina hotel will incorporate playful forms, colors, and graphics that highlight its distinctive circular architecture while housing an expanded lobby.
