The Architectural League’s annual Emerging Voices program spotlights North American architects, landscape architects, and urban designers who have significant bodies of realized work and the potential to influence their field.

Taylor and Miller Architecture and Design won a 2011 award.

Jeffrey Taylor and B. Alex Miller founded Taylor & Miller Architecture and Design in 2002. The Brooklyn- and Pittsfield, MA-based studio focuses “on mining materials and ideas from contexts that are most ‘accessible’, both physically and conceptually.” The studio engages deeply in the fabrication and material manipulation for every project. The firm considers “the actions that are taken to modify…materials as the real process of…architecture.” The firm was named by Architectural Record in 2009 to its Design Vanguard. The firm is currently writing the book, The Great American Garage, to be published by The MIT Press.

Jeffrey Taylor received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and his Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. B. Alex Miller received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
