New Grounds for Design Education

In this video, student and alumni organizers from Taubman, OSU, UVA, Yale, Rice, GSAPP, Virginia Tech, GSD, Cooper Union, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, UCLA, UPenn, University of Florida, and Carnegie Mellon come together for a discussion on their efforts to combat racism and encourage inclusion in architecture and design schools. In a conversation moderated by Sanjive Vaidya, Chair of Architectural Technology at The New York City College of Technology, over 30 participants share experiences, discuss challenges, and talk about next steps. Dr. Sharon Sutton, visiting professor at Parsons School of Design and adjunct professor at Columbia GSAPP, provides additional insight and shares her analyses of the open letters written by organizers demanding reform at their institutions.
