In 2021, Tei Carpenter of Agency–Agency and Rodrigo Escandón Cesarman and Ricardo Roxo Matias of APRDELESP won the League Prize, which celebrates young architects and designers. They presented their work as part of the associated online lecture series.
In this video, they discuss projects including:
Agency—Agency
- “Interview: Architect Tei Carpenter on philosophy, the future, and her public hydrant” by Vere van Gool, PIN–UP 28, Spring / Summer 2020
- “Double Duty: Reimagining the Public Value of Architecture” by Tei Carpenter, Azure Magazine, 2021
- “Waste Not, Want More: Zeroing In on Designing Waste” by Tei Carpenter, The Avery Review, accessed May 5, 2021
APRDELESP
- Material Art Fair, an annual contemporary art fair in Mexico City for which the firm has provided design development and construction management since 2016. In 2020, the fair took place in a 3,300 square meters court used for playing jai alai, a sport similar to racquetball, at historic event space Frontón Mexico.
- Parque Experimental El Eco, a temporary installation in the courtyard of Museo Experimental El Eco in Mexico City, awarded through the museum’s annual competition. The project transformed the space through an “everyday infrastructure” that included tables, chairs, a grill, an inflatable pool, and grass.
- Lodos, an art gallery in the Colonia Juárez neighborhood of Mexico City. A pine wood structure detached from existing walls serves as a kind of scaffolding onto which other elements can be added.
The presentations are introduced by 2021 Young Architects + Designers Committee member Cyrus Peñarroyo, co-founder of EXTENTS. A moderated discussion and Q&A with Peñarroyo follows the presentations.
