In 2016, Rania Ghosn and El Hadi Jazairy of Design Earth won the League Prize, which celebrates young architects and designers. They presented their work as part of the associated lecture series.

Is a design project truly sustainable if it depletes resources or adds waste somewhere else? Ghosn and Jazairy believe that the architectural profession needs to devote more attention to questions like these.

“Our contemporary ecological crisis might stem from the impossibility of continuing to imagine an outside in which the unwanted consequences of our collective actions could be allowed to linger and disappear from view,” Ghosn said in her talk.
