AMBROSI | ETCHEGARAY

The Architectural League’s Emerging Voices program annually spotlights North American architects, landscape architects, and urban designers who have significant bodies of realized work and the potential to influence their field.

Gabriela Etchegaray and Jorge Ambrosi of AMBROSI | ETCHEGARAY are 2015 winners of the award.

Gabriela Etchegaray and Jorge Ambrosi founded Mexico City-based AMBROSI | ETCHEGARAY in 2011. The firm seeks an “architecture in harmony with nature, where earth, gravity, and light must be present.” Current projects include Papalote Museo del Niño, an outdoor “museography-landscape,” as well as a collaboration with GMexico Mine Company to build cultural plazas and sports infrastructure in local communities. Past projects include DAS Town Houses in Condesa, Mexico City; GP House in Tepoztlán, Morelos; and Nacozari Plaza in Sonora.

Etchegaray and Ambrosi received an award at the IX Iberoamerican Biennal, for the AR Building in Rosario, Argentina in 2014. The firm also participated in the exhibition (con)secuencias formales in MEXTRÓPOLI, an international architecture festival in Mexico City in 2014. Their work was exhibited in the Latin American Architecture Biennale in Pamplona, Spain in 2013. They were part of 21 Young Mexicans Architects in 2012, an ongoing exhibition traveling around Mexico.

Jorge Ambrosi holds a degree in Architecture from the National University of Mexico. Gabriela Etchegaray received her MA in Creative Management and Transformation of the City at Universidad Iberoamericana and Politecnica de Catalunya, she holds an MEDes in Architecture and Urban Design from Universidad Iberoamericana, and her undergraduate degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana, where both partners have taught.
