Urban Omnibus: Portfolios panel discussion
An event exploring the role of photography in understanding the contemporary city.
January 7, 2020
6:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the exhibition Urban Omnibus: Portfolios, now on view at The Architectural League, Urban Omnibus will host a conversation on photography and the contemporary city.
Accustomed to visualizations of future megaprojects and photographs of freshly inaugurated buildings, we are less likely to notice, as we walk down the street, how buildings, landscapes, policies and programs, and infrastructural systems shape the urban environment. What is the role of sustained visual inquiry into the physical city today?
For this event, photographers and Urban Omnibus contributors Kris Graves, Stanley Greenberg, and Anna Shteynshleyger will discuss their work as research on the urban condition. What do their photographic investigations and interpretations prompt us to see differently?
Moderated by Danielle Jackson.
