MOS Architects (MOS)

The Architectural League’s annual Emerging Voices program spotlights North American architects, landscape architects, and urban designers who have significant bodies of realized work and the potential to influence their field.
MOS won a 2008 award.
Founded in 2003 by Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample, the New Haven- and Boston-based firm MOS Architects (MOS) focuses “on architecture and design through design research and multivalent architectural objects.” Its interdisciplinary design process of “radical inclusion and experimentation” inspires work of varying scales, from product and exhibition design to residential architecture and cultural centers.
Recent projects include the Huyghe + Le Corbusier Puppet Theater at Harvard’s Carpenter Center; Artist Studio in Ancram, NY; the Floating House in Lake Huron, Ontario; and the IVY Coathook System.
Winner of an I.D. Award, MOS was featured in the Cooper-Hewitt’s National Design Triennale in 2006 and the League’s Young Architects Forum in 1998. The firm has been published in Architectural Record, the New York Times, Architecture, Wired, Praxis, and Progressive Architecture.
Michael Meredith received his BArch from Syracuse University and his MArch from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is currently an assistant professor of architecture at the GSD. Hilary Sample received her BArch from Syracuse University and her MArch from the Princeton University School of Architecture. She is currently an assistant professor at the Yale University School of Architecture.
