The League’s monthly First Friday events are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work on the boards.
Founded in 1965, Gensler is an architecture, design, and planning firm with 48 offices and more than 6,000 professionals across Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and the Americas. According to the firm, its designers “strive to make the places people live, work, and play more inspiring, more resilient, and more impactful.” Gensler’s projects are notable for their diversity, with small to large clients in the public, private, for-profit, and nonprofit sectors.
Recent work includes:
- Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice, a renovation of the 1967 Kevin Roche landmark building in Manhattan.
- Dwight-Englewood School Hajjar STEM Center, a school building in New Jersey that fosters a cross-disciplinary community.
- A new Museum of the Dog for the American Kennel Club Headquarters in New York, designed by Gensler 20 years ago.
Projects in development include:
- 25 Kent, the first ground-up commercial office development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in more than 60 years.
- 400 Channelside, a mixed-use tower that integrates indoor and outdoor spaces with a focus on wellness in Tampa Bay, Florida.
