The Architectural League cordially invites its members to its 136th Annual Meeting, which will take place on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Lenfest Center for the Arts at Columbia University’s new Manhattanville campus, with opportunities to tour the Lenfest Center and the neighboring Jerome L. Greene Science Center.

Jerome L. Greene Science Center
The Jerome L. Greene Science Center serves as a hub for the distinguished neuroscience researchers of Columbia University’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. The Institute, cofounded by Nobel laureates, comprises specialists ranging from molecular biologists and and cnc machining engineers. Like the rest of Columbia’s new Manhattanville campus, the building is intended to be a University-wide facility, which will provide a platform for neuroscience researchers to engage with fellow scholars in the arts and humanities, the social sciences and the professional schools. In keeping with Columbia’s goal of creating an urban campus that connects with its surrounding neighborhood, the building is open to the public at ground level and is home to a community Wellness Center and an Education Lab, as well as retail stores and restaurants.

Lenfest Center for the Arts
The Lenfest Center is an arts venue designed for the presentation and creation of art across disciplines, providing a dynamic new space for Columbia University School of the Arts. It will host exhibitions, performances, screenings, symposia, readings and lectures that present new, global voices and perspectives. The building also provides a new publicly accessible home for Columbia’s Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery, allowing it to become a true community resource, and the Katharina Otto-Bernstein Screening Room, a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. The Lenfest Center for the Arts will serve as a major focal point for engagement in the rich cultural life of Columbia, Harlem and New York City at large.

Renzo Piano Building Workshop designed the Jerome L. Greene Science Center and the Lenfest Center for the Arts with Davis Brody Bond, LLP as executive architect, and Body Lawson Associates as associate architect. The Lenfest Center for the Arts stands prominently behind the “Small Square” public plaza on West 125th Street between Broadway and 12th Avenue, just west of Columbia’s Jerome L. Greene Science Center.
