The League’s monthly After Hours events, formerly called First Fridays, are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work on the boards.
NBBJ is a global multidisciplinary firm made up of over 800 architects, strategists, experiential designers, and clinicians. Known for innovative healthcare projects, the firm won the AIA’s Best in Healthcare Design award in 2024, informed by research from its specialized consultancy. Founded in Seattle in 1943 by Floyd Naramore, William J. Bain, Clifton Brady, and Perry Johanson, NBBJ aims to “create healthy places, strong communities, and a resilient environment,” in their own words. Across 12 international offices, 21 partners now lead the multidisciplinary firm’s architecture, interiors, lighting, landscape, and urban design projects.

Montage Health Ohana Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Constructed with cross-laminated timber, the design of this behavioral healthcare facility in Monterey, California, features abundant natural light and gardens of immune system-boosting plants.
Keppel South Central Comprised of traditional office floors and co-working spaces, this 33-story mixed-use development also houses cafes, restaurants, and terraces open to the public.
Two Taikoo Place This Hong Kong high-rise office includes two floors of public access, coworking zones, tearooms, executive lounges, and a two-story garden.
Current projects include:
Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center New Bed Tower and Inpatient Expansion Aiming to enhance patient experience and promote collaboration across care units, additions to this Charlotte, North Carolina, medical center will utilize an open core layout that relocates work areas along corridors.
vivo Headquarters For this 32-story corporate office tower in Shenzhen, China, NBBJ designed indoor-outdoor gardens on every floor to promote worker mobility and collaboration between departments.
Massachusetts General Hospital Phillip and Susan Ragon Building This facility for cancer and cardiac treatment, teaching, and research will accommodate up to 30,000 people daily and use 100 percent renewable energy.
