The Architectural League Equipment Donation Program

Donate Laptops through The Architectural League

As part of its Equitable and Inclusive Initiative, The Architectural League, in partnership with New York City College of Technology, is launching an equipment donation program. Many architecture students struggle to secure adequate equipment with which to work and study effectively. The pandemic and the subsequent stay-at-home orders made this disparity abundantly clear. Given the League’s outreach network of over 10,000 architects and designers, we see an opportunity to help connect needs to resources. The Architectural League will coordinate donations, which will be tax-deductible donations (to the extent allowed by law) to the New York City College of Technology Foundation. Details below.

What: We’re presently accepting laptop donations exclusively, with corresponding power cords if possible.

How: By pick-up, drop-off, or by mail. The League will conduct pick-ups and organize dedicated drop-off days at the League office in SoHo according to the schedule posted on this webpage. Please inquire via email to info@archleague.org for the schedule of drop-off and pick-up dates.

Pick-ups will be as contactless as possible. The driver will be wearing a mask and will text you when they arrive outside of your office or home. You will meet them outside and place your laptop (wrapped in plastic or in a case) in the trunk of their car.

Drop-offs will be limited to a specific window of time when the League office building at 594 Broadway is most empty.

Ship your machine in a secure package via USPS, FedEx, or UPS using the following address:

New York City College of Technology
Department of Architectural Technology
300 Jay Street / Voorhees – 806
Brooklyn, New York 11201

How to get started

If you would like to donate a laptop that meets the guidelines below, please contact info@archleague.org with the subject line Laptop Donation and clearly state your preference for either a pick-up or a drop-off, or shipping your equipment yourself. Please include a screenshot of your machine specs in the email. You can locate these by searching for device specifications in your machine’s settings.

The laptops will be cleaned by the generous technology staff at City Tech and wiped of all data. However, we recommend you rid them of all personal information ahead of time. The equipment will be distributed to architecture students for the upcoming Fall semester. Once your donation is processed, you will receive a donation receipt from New York City College of Technology Foundation. You can donate as a company or as an individual.
