Managing Editor, Urban Omnibus

The Architectural League seeks a managing editor of Urban Omnibus, a full-time position beginning in late spring 2019. Urban Omnibus is The Architectural League’s online publication dedicated to observing, understanding, and shaping the city. Reporting to the editor in chief, the managing editor plays a key role in a small editorial team committed to the interdisciplinary exploration of design and the built environment in New York City.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual with excellent writing and editing skills, substantial disciplinary knowledge of architecture and urbanism, and a deep interest in the role these play in the broader culture of the city.

This position requires experience in WordPress/HTML, keen attention to detail, and a good eye. A degree in architecture, planning or another urbanism/design field (or equivalent experience) is essential; graphic or other documentary/media production skills highly valued.

Core responsibilities include managing the editorial process, developmental work with contributors, copyediting and proofreading, image research and editing, communications and audience engagement. The editor will also have the opportunity to develop and commission new content, contribute to special series and projects, and author features.

This is a full-time position in the Architectural League’s office in Lower Manhattan. The League offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
