Membership and Development Associate

The Architectural League seeks to hire a Membership and Development Associate. This individual plays a crucial role in the League’s organizational life, often serving as the public face of the League in interacting with League members, audiences, and volunteers. The Membership and Development Associate supports development and program staff; maintains the League’s membership records and event reservation systems; provides audience services and supervises volunteers at League events; works on special fundraising events and membership initiatives; and works closely with the Membership and Development Manager on the League’s new pilot project with the New York State Council on the Arts to administer independent project grants. The M/D Associate maintains the League’s contact database, and will have ongoing opportunities to learn more about database management.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an individual who loves working with people, is adept at and likes working with data, writes well, and has exceptional attention to detail. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Strong interest in architecture and design is highly desired.

While the League staff is currently working remotely, we anticipate returning to our office soon after the beginning of the new year, and therefore the Membership and Development Associate must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the New York City region. We cannot pay relocation expenses. This is a full-time position; the salary is $50,000. Benefits include health insurance, transit subsidy, and paid time off.

To apply, please fill out the application form and short questions. We strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, and others who may contribute to the diversity of perspectives on the League staff to apply. We will begin reviewing applications immediately and will continue to accept applications until the position is filled; interviews will begin in January. We would like the new Membership and Development Associate to start work in early 2022.
