The League’s monthly First Friday events are informal social gatherings that allow members to visit the offices of leading design practices and see work on the boards.

Grimshaw was founded by Sir Nicholas Grimshaw in 1980. The practice operates worldwide, with offices in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Dubai, Melbourne, and Sydney. Grimshaw covers architecture, planning, and industrial design, with works ranging from infrastructure and transportation projects to educational and commercial buildings.

Recent and ongoing projects include:

  • Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, a four-building complex that brings together an aquarium, a planetarium, and a science museum to provide experiential learning to Miami residents and visitors alike.
  • Vaughan Metropolitan Center Station, a new station that connects the City of Vaughan to downtown Toronto and beyond, providing more transit options for a fast-growing region. Working under Arup and alongside Adamson Associates and artist Paul Raff, Grimshaw has developed a design that is both artful and functional.
  • Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal One, a two-level, T-shaped building for a new terminal, designed in partnership with STV and scheduled to open in 2022.
