Digital Producer

The Opportunity

The Digital Producer ensures the timely planning and production of our website as well as our weekly newsletter in order to advance the marketing and communications goals of the League. This position reports to the Director of Development and Communications and works closely with programs and communications staff to shape and create website and newsletter content. 

This is a part-time position (approximately 18 hours/week.) (The League currently has a 36-work week, generally with a half day on Friday.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and produce the creation of new website pages and content, and make updates to existing pages as needed using our WordPress CMS 
  • Coordinate and produce the creation of our weekly newsletter and as-needed ecards in MailChimp. The newsletter will require adapting text and images from various sources, including headlines, body text, and links into our template. Ecards are sent for special announcements and invitations
  • Image processing for web, and archiving assets on our shared server 
  • Participate in on-call website support with our web developers in collaboration with other team members
  • Be available to join our weekly communications team meeting on Mondays at 10 am 
  • Coordinate and track a 7/30/90 day schedule for newsletter and web page creation  
  • Occasionally help produce lecture recordings to be uploaded to Youtube and posted on our website, as needed
  • Produce and share monthly email and website (archleague.org and urbanomnibus.net) analytics reports 
  • Stay up-to-date with platform changes and digital best practices, including accessibility
  • Maintain and enforce the League’s style guide across all materials, ensure brand and institutional voice consistency across newsletter and web deliverables

Qualifications and Skills:

REQUIRED

  • 2+ years of digital production, content strategy, editorial experience, communications, and/or website design and development (or equivalent from school)
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, able to coordinate and communicate across departments 
  • Proactive and takes initiative in gathering assets, asking questions, and scheduling projects 
  • Experience publishing through WordPress or similar web publishing platforms
  • Sensitive proofreader
  • Excellent written and in-person communication skills
  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with multi-faceted teams
  • Familiarity with analytics (Google Analytics, Mailchimp) and knowledge of best practices for website architecture, design, user experience, accessibility, and SEO. 
  • Experience with project management software (Notion, Slack)
  • Proficiency in text editing software such as Microsoft Office and Google Drive. 
  • Experience managing digital assets for the web
  • Experience with editorial photo selection for web pages, newsletters, etc.
  • Experience with the Adobe Suite
  • Knowledge of usage rights and best practices

STRONGLY PREFERRED

  • Experience with basic tools of digital content production: HTML, CSS
  • Experience with video editing
  • Demonstrated interest in architecture, design, art, and the built environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Though this position is remote, the ideal candidate is based in NYC, allowing for in-office meetings when appropriate/desirable by all parties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff members and other stakeholders by email, phone, virtually, and in person
  • Though the role is expected to be active primarily during daytime hours (10–4, M–Th), some evening and weekend work may be required, rarely, for time-sensitive tasks

Terms & Benefits

This is a part-time position, estimating approximately half time (currently 18 hrs/week). League employees regularly working more than half time have the option to buy into the League’s health benefits package at the employee’s own expense. The hourly rate is $35/hr. The Digital Producer will have access to all League events, in person and online.
