Communications Intern

The Architectural League seeks a motivated and self-directed individual to serve as Communications Intern. The Communications Intern will work primarily on updating and migrating content to the League’s website and developing original content for its social media channels in addition to helping to develop and execute strategies for communications outreach. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in online strategy, who enjoys writing about architecture, design, and the built environment, and communicating about these subjects to a wide audience.

The Communications Intern will work directly with the Communications Manager as well as with League program staff to communicate about The Architectural League’s public programming and initiatives via the League’s website, social media channels, and printed collateral. The Communications Intern will also assist with documentation of these events and initiatives and help develop strategies for continued growth in The Architectural League’s outreach.

The candidate should be proactive, organized, enthusiastic about working with others as well as able to take initiative, and must be interested in architecture, the built environment, and the clear communication of ideas and issues surrounding these disciplines. This role requires excellent interpersonal and writing skills. The Communications Intern is expected to photograph the League’s evening lectures and open house events at local firms. A successful candidate should have basic skills in WordPress and moderate to advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign. They should also be familiar with social media platforms and channels including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

 

Terms:

Candidates should be available 24-30 hours per week and be able to commit to a 10-week period. Hours are flexible, though regularity in schedule is preferred. This is a summer position.

The communications intern will receive an unlimited monthly Metrocard and receive compensation of $15/hour.
