Speaking on Thursday, May 16, the first night of the series, will be Lisa Iwamoto and Craig Scott of IS.Ar: Iwamoto Scott Architecture and Eric Liftin, MESH Architectures. Based in Berkeley, California, IS.Ar has a number of current and recently completed residential and institutional projects. Throughout their work Iwamoto and Scott attempt to "balance exploration in digital processes and media, modeling of prototypes, and hands-on material research with investigations into perceptual and experiential phenomena." Their recent and current work includes the interior design for the College of Architecture and Urban Design Faculty Research Room and a rooftop terrace addition for the Business School at the University of Michigan, houses in Michigan, California and Hawaii, and an addition and renovation for St. John's Episcopal Church in Howell, Michigan. They are also currently designing the Flemington Jewish Community Center, a commission won (in partnership with Robert Levit) as a result of an NEA sponsored design competition. Iwamoto and Scott both received their Master of Architecture degrees from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and are currently teaching architecture, Iwamoto at UC Berkeley and Scott at the University of Michigan.
