New York Architecture Diary Editorial Assistant (Part-Time):

The Architectural League seeks a proactive, diligent, and highly organized individual to serve as Editorial Assistant for the New York Architecture Diary (NYAD). Reporting to the League’s Communications Director, who heads NYAD’s editorial team, the Editorial Assistant will serve as NYAD’s primary administrator. She/he will be responsible for ensuring that NYAD is continuously populated with diverse and current event listings, and for the general maintenance of both the site itself and its corresponding social media channels. The Assistant will also assist in developing and executing strategies for NYAD’s long-term growth.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who is excited and motivated by the prospect of tackling the challenges of developing this nascent communications tool into a widely respected and trusted resource. In particular, the role requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills for interfacing with partner organizations. The ideal candidate will be familiar with New York architecture organizations and will have a strong general knowledge and interest in contemporary architecture. The position pays $15 per hour.

The Architectural League of New York offers seasonal internships with a minimum 3- month time commitment to qualified undergraduates and recent graduates. We ask that interns work a minimum of 10-15 hours per week and are flexible with their schedule. Selection for the League’s internship program is made on the basis of the applicant’s enthusiasm about the League’s mission and programs, experience, and interest in architecture, design, and/or urbanism.

Internships will receive a stipend of $15 per hour and unlimited monthly MetroCards for the duration of the internship. The League will also support internships for academic credit.

Communications Assistant Internship

The League seeks a proactive, self-driven, and highly organized individual for our Communications Assistant Internship this fall. The Communications Assistant will work directly with the Communications Director in coordination with the Programs Department to communicate and broadcast The Architectural League’s programming, initiatives, and feature content via the League’s website (archleague.org), its online citymaking and urban culture magazine Urban Omnibus (urbanomnibus.net), its social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and a variety of printed publications and materials. The intern will also assist with documenting the League’s events and initiatives, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of strategies for the continued growth of the League’s communications efforts.

Program Assistant Internship

The League seeks a motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed individual for our Program Assistant internship this fall. As an integral team member in our office, the intern will not only provide necessary support for the daily operations of the League, but will also have the opportunity to attend meetings, reviews, and juries with leading members of the design community. The Program Assistant intern is required to attend League events.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Programs Dept. to organize competitions, juries, and events
  • Record and enter portfolio information for design competitions
  • Research to support the League’s programs and activities
  • Help manage the execution of League events
  • Assist in compiling comprehensive archive of past League programs and competitions

The League is looking for volunteers to help out with lectures, exhibition installations, and special events, and to assist the digital media team with transcriptions and video captioning. Volunteering at the League is a great way to get involved in the city’s architecture scene. Most volunteering is unpaid; however, we are occasionally able to offer small stipends.
