First Friday (observed on the 2nd Friday of September)
INC Architecture & Design
Join INC Architecture & Design at its office for drinks, informal conversation, and a behind-the-scenes look at recent and upcoming projects. This program is part of First Friday, a monthly opportunity for League members to visit the offices of leading design practices to see work on the boards and learn more about the offices’ organization and design processes. These informal social gatherings feature happy hour drinks arranged by the host office.
INC Architecture & Design, a multi-disciplinary architecture and design studio, was founded by principals Adam Rolston, Drew Stuart, and Gabriel Benroth in 2006. Their firm works on a variety of project types at wide-ranging scales, from industrial and furniture design, to the design of exhibitions and commercial interiors, as well as houses and residential buildings. “Drawing inspiration from the constraints” of each project, the firm embraces a collaborative design process, calling on a collective critical “design Darwinism” in their open studio, as well as the cultivation of a carefully maintained library rich in traditional and new materials, to shape their individual projects through shared information.
Recent work includes the modular, reconfigurable Hex Table; exhibition designs for the Museum of Art & Design and the Jewish Museum, both in Manhattan; the Confluence House, Harlemville, NY; Texas Hill House, Craryville, NY; and Sixteen Doors House, Hillsdale, NY. Projects currently in construction include interior design of One Hotel Brooklyn; and the Sutton Condominium, Manhattan.
