Join LEVENBETTS at its office for drinks, informal conversation, and a behind the scenes look at recent and upcoming projects. This program is part of First Friday, a monthly opportunity for League members to visit the offices of leading design practices to see work on the boards and learn more about the offices’ organization and design processes. These informal social gatherings feature happy hour drinks arranged by the host office.
LEVENBETTS was founded by David Leven and Stella Betts in 1997. The firm explores design at all scales—including urban design, public architecture, houses and housing, commercial workspaces, exhibitions, and furniture—to pursue the idea of “an architecture that engages its urban and or natural environment”.
Notable work includes an urban design and housing proposal entitled PhX caseXcase for Phoenix, and a parking garage project called Chicago Filter Parking which is part of a larger ongoing study that applies new sustainable transportation solutions and green planting systems to aging infrastructures. The firm was recently commissioned by the New York City Economic Development Corporation to design a 300,000 square-foot commercial building in Harlem.
Other recent projects include a renovation of Cornell University’s East Sibley Hall, Ithaca, NY; Taystee Marketing Center in Manhattan; CAT 03, a guesthouse in Catskills, NY; and 36SML, a private residence in Amagansett, NY.
