“After some years of apparent hesitation, architects have renewed their search for design ideas to address the real problems of cities. The most publicized work has concentrated on how to redirect suburban development, or on purportedly paradigmatic ‘contemporary’ cities such as Los Angeles. Does this recent work have anything to offer a district like the East New York section of Brooklyn, a predominantly low-rise, mixed residential and industrial area? ‘Envisioning East New York’ seeks to generate architectural and urban design ideas that will open new possibilities for the residents of East New York and Community District 5 to consider as they plan their own future.”  Call for Submissions
