Opening party for KIT’s “Hoop Canopy Installation,” the selected design from the Sketch 120 Design in 5 charrette
Saturday, July 17th
6:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m.
1432 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn

Join SUPERFRONT, KIT, the NY City Explorers, and Design in 5 to celebrate the opening of the installation “Hoop Canopy.”

The outdoor installation for the local community group NYC Explorers has been constructed by the young design collective KIT, made up of designers Justin Foster, Phil Kuehne, Read Langworthy, and Lauren Page, with support from SUPERFRONT and volunteers. The installation incorporates over 400 hula hoops, as well as found and discarded materials.

The scheme was selected through an open charrette competition juried by Jace Clayton aka DJ/rupture, Mimi Hoang of nArchitects, and Hayes Slade and James Slade of Slade Architecture and organized by the League’s Design in 5 group with SUPERFRONT. Also opening the same evening in SUPERFRONT’s gallery is the group exhibit Artists Who Play Well With Architects. The reception will feature live music and beverages for sale. Free and open to all. No reservations necessary.
